First Fruits Of Zion “FFOZ” and Boaz Michael is a False Teacher

Now what would you think when a very reputable so called Torah teacher said the following,I do not believe that "One Law" means the "Same Law" for everyone”? Yes, big red flags should be going up at this point. Now what would you think if this same “teacher” taught that we should not use the Name of the Almighty because Yehoshua the Messiah Himself did not mention His own Fathers Name out of respect for the Rabbinical teachings? Let me quote this so called teacher here too, “To me those that speak the Name violate the very act of discipleship--since Yeshua did not use the name and disconnect themselves from the Jewish people as the Jewish people have placed guards in place to protect the Name from improper use.” He says what? Is that what the Torah or the Messiah teaches? Absolutely NOT. Yes, you should by now also agree that this is preposterous and that this person, who is teaching such idiotic doctrines, is ignorant and certainly not a teacher of the Word of YHWH.

This is probably why the Messianic and Hebrew Roots movements are just as lost now, then they were while still in the church. There is not much of a difference except that they are adding a Hebrew (Jewish) flavour to it. This is because venomous false teachers like Boaz Michael of ‘First Fruits Of Zion’ (FFOZ) (and yes, it is he that teaches these missguided doctrines quoted above) teach them that it is okay to carry on in their churchy system and that they can pick and choose which Commands they want to apply to themselves or not, as seen from the statement above. And why do they teach this? Because they too, make money from their followers, which makes their ‘ministry’ a business just like the church does.

Now let me give you some background on this matter before I carry on. My wife and I were invited to go to one of Boaz’s teachings in a very large church in Pretoria on one Shabbat when he was here in South Africa. We did not go because we did not wish to dishonour the Sabbath of YHWH by entering into a pagan temple on the Sabbath. The following Monday I heard that my dad and a friend were going to attend another of his teaching sessions that was organised close by to us. My wife and I went along because I did not want my dad to learn what was being taught by FFOZ and so that I could point out the errors of their teachings according to the Scriptures. While sitting in the front row, I was shocked to hear what nonsense was being taught and how the people were just eating it up. I kept quiet and took notes of what was being said.

I then wrote to Boaz in a private message asking him questions on why he taught those things (I wrote to him in private because I did not want to embarrass him in a public message before I got his reply). I waited a month and got no reply. Then I asked in a public thread, where I was accused of being contentious and got some hate mail from his followers too (it is amazing how people follow a man rather than Scripture). Now I am going to expose some of those false teachings of Boaz
here.

Let us break down what Boaz teaches into sections and tackle them one by one.

Now to say that Yehoshua the Messiah respected the way of the Pharisees over the Torah of His Father is totally untrue, but that is what Boaz teaches. Let me quote Boaz’s statement here again quick, “To me those that speak the Name violate the very act of discipleship--since Yeshua did not use the name and disconnect themselves from the Jewish people as the Jewish people have placed guards in place to protect the Name from improper use.” What he is saying is that anyone who speaks the Name of YHWH violates the very act of discipleship... now please tell me, where that is written? Let us see for ourselves what YHWH Himself teaches us regarding this matter, “And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra’ĕl, ‘יהוה (YHWH) Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Yitschaq, and the Elohim of Ya’aqov, has sent me to you. This is My Name forever, and this is My remembrance to all generations” (Exodus 3:15). Also let us read the following, “And I appeared to Abraham, to Yitschaq, and to Ya’aqov, as ĚlShaddai. And by My Name, יהוה (YHWH), was I not known to them?” (Exodus 6:3). So you can clearly see that YHWH never intended for His Name to be hidden for any reason whatsoever.

Let us read the third commandment together: “You do not bring the Name of יהוה (YHWH) your Elohim to naught, for יהוה (YHWH) does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught” (Exodus 20:7) Now do you think that the Son of YHWH could directly transgress against one of the very ten Words that His Father wrote with His own finger?

So did Yehoshua transgress against His Father’s Word and follow the Rabbinical teachings of hiding the Name? Or did He obey His Father in heaven and reveal His Fathers Name? “saying, ‘I shall announce Your Name to My brothers, in the midst of the congregation I shall sing praise to You.’” (Heb 2:12) “I have revealed Your Name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they have guarded Your Word” (John 17:6) “And I have made Your Name known to them, and shall make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me might be in them, and I in them” (John 17:26). So is what Boaz is teaching Scriptural, or is it utter rubbish? Clearly Boaz does not know what is written in the Scriptures because if he did, he would not teach what he is teaching now. As you can see, what he is teaching does not have ANY Scriptural backing, and he is calling Yehoshua the Messiah a liar.

Let us read some actual verses where Yehoshua physically said the Name of YHWH to prove what Boaz is teaching to be false. I have only gone through the book of Matthew for these examples, also know that these are only the times that it is recorded that Yehoshua revealed the Name of His Father. He could have used the Name of YHWH thousands more times in normal conversation with His disciples and the people he spoke with, that was not recorded here. Let us read now, יהושע (Yehoshua) said to him, “It has also been written, ‘You shall not try יהוה (YHWH) your Elohim.’” (Mat 4:7) “Then יהושע (Yehoshua) said to him, “Go, Satan! For it has been written, ‘You shall worship יהוה (YHWH) your Elohim, and Him alone you shall serve.’” (Mat 4:10) “Again, you heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to יהוה (YHWH).” (Mat 5:33) יהושע (Yehoshua) said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures, ‘The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner-stone. This was from יהוה (YHWH), and it is marvellous in our eyes’?” (Mat 21:42) “And יהושע (Yehoshua) said to him, “‘You shall love יהוה (YHWH) your Elohim with all your heart, and with all your being, and with all your mind.’” (Mat 22:37) “יהוה (YHWH) said to my Master, “Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool of Your feet” ’?” (Mat 22:44) “for I say to you, from now on you shall by no means see Me, until you say, ‘Blessed is He who is coming in the Name of יהוה (YHWH)!” (Mat 23:39).

Wow... it is written so many times even in the first book of the Renewed Covenant, Matthew. How can someone who supposedly studies the Scriptures so intensely, like Boaz, fail to miss these verses? Knowing what these verses say, can one honestly believe that Yehoshua the Messiah had more respect for the Pharisees than He did for His Father? Did the Messiah feel the need to hide the Name of His Father? It is certainly made clear by just reading the Scriptures to see that it is not so. Why then would Boaz teach such falsehood?

Did Y’hoshua the Mashiyach disconnect Himself from the Jewish people? Let us see what He said about the Jewish traditions that were being followed by the Jewish people, “But He answering, said to them, “Why do you also transgress the command of Elohim because of your tradition?” (Mat 15:3). Y’hoshua went on to say, “Hypocrites! Yeshayahu (Isaiah) rightly prophesied about you, saying, ‘This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.’” (Mat 15:7-9) Does that sound like the Messiah respected the traditions of the Jewish people?

So as you can see, What Boaz is teaching is the total opposite of what the Scriptures are teaching.  It seems as though Boaz is following after Rabbinical Judaism rather than the Scriptures itself. I say this because Boaz does not wear tzitzit as is commanded us to wear in at least two places in the Torah, but he rather wears a kippah that is taught in Rabbinical Jewish tradition and does not appear once in the Scriptures (did the Messiah wear a kippah?). He also seems to follow the fixed Rabbinical calendar rather than observance of the moon.

Now here is another heresy that Boaz teaches, “I do not believe that "One Law" means the "Same Law" for everyone” He uses this statement to justify his blatant disrespect and disobedience to the Word of YHWH. Now think for yourself... is this statement of Boaz’s supported by the Torah, or anywhere else in the entire Scriptures? Or is Boaz making this up and teaching this false doctrine to thousands of people? Let us have a look at a few verses in the Scriptures again, “There is one Torah for the native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among you.” (Exodus 12:49) “And when a stranger sojourns among you, then he shall perform the Passover of יהוה (YHWH). He shall do so according to the law of the Passover and according to its right-ruling. You have one law, both for the stranger and the native of the land” (Num 9:14) “One Torah and one right-ruling is for you and for the stranger who sojourns with you” (Num 15:16) “For him who does whatever by mistake there is one Torah, both for him who is native among the children of Yisra’ĕl and for the stranger who sojourns in their midst” (Num 15:29). If there is only One Law for the native and for the stranger, then what other law can there be? If one thing applies to one person, then it should also apply to the next person. Otherwise the Law would not be a righteous Law.

Boaz taught that it was interesting that Y’hoshua did not once mention anything about the wearing of tzitzit, the keeping of the Sabbath or that of eating kosher, when He spoke, on the Mount, to the people in Mat 5-7. This is one of Boaz’s very poor excuses for not wearing tzitzit etc. This is one of the issues that I asked Boaz about in my letter to him. I asked him if it was necessary for Y’hoshua to have spoken about these three issues to the people. This is because ALL the people there were already doing all three these things (wearing tzitzit, keeping the Sabbath and eating kosher). Why should the Messiah teach these people to do something that they were ALL already doing? Boaz could not answer me on that.

In 1 John 2:3-6 it states the following; ”And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands. The one who says, “I know Him,” and does not guard His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever guards His Word, truly the love of Elohim has been perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked” So what commands are these that are being spoken of? Does this apply to everyone? Well according to Boaz, No it does not. Boaz, is clearly not walking as the Messiah did as he does not keep the commands required to do so. So it is very safe to say that he does not have a love for the Messiah or His Father YHWH and the truth is not in him.

Boaz claims that he has a problem with the church teaching paganism, and yet he himself still uses the pagan substitutes for the Name of the Father and His Son the Mashiyach. Boaz claims that the names “God” and “Jesus” and “Lord” are not of pagan origin (Click on the links provided here to see the evidence of the fact that they are from pagan idol origin). Clearly Boaz is disillusioned and cannot see the truth. Why would Boaz teach such heresies? Because if he did teach the absolute truth of the Scriptures, he would not have such a following as he does now and therefore not be able to make a living from what he does.

Now when I asked Boaz about these points he was making (in the public thread), I was immediately accused of being contentious and attacking. This is a typical Christian response to someone who shows them their errors. Was the Messiah contentious and attacking when he rebuked the Pharisees for transgressing the Torah of His Father by their man-made teachings? Was He being contentious and attacking when He called the Pharisees adders and hypocrites because they do not do what they teach (Mat 15:3-9)? Was He also contentious when He made a whip and drove the people out of the temple by overthrowing their tables etc. (Mat 21:12)? It is clear that Boaz is trying to accuse me of being attacking to try hide his own faults, because if he had to have a proper dialogue with me and answer those questions truthfully, his false teachings would be brought to light and he would look like a fool.

It is very clear to see that Boaz Michael and his organisation FFOZ are exactly the same as the mystery Babylon church, only with a Jewish flavour and does not teach the true faith of the Messiah. If the Messiah heard what Boaz was teaching, He too would have rebuked Boaz for transgressing the Torah of YHWH by his traditions and called him a hypocrite. His rebuke to Boaz would look something like this, Hypocrites! Yeshayahu rightly prophesied about you, saying, ‘This people draw near to Me with their mouth, and respect Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as teachings the commands of men.’” (Mat 15:7-9).

Now that you know Boaz is teaching falsehood, do you think it is wise to follow or learn from him? Those who are deceived by his teachings are not rooted in Scripture themselves and are going to be held responsible for themselves in the day of judgment.

I pray that Boaz Michael repents of his unrighteousness and continues to teach only what is written in the Word of YHWH rather than the rubbish he is teaching now.

  1. Wow that is very amazing to hear. And unfortunate. I pray that he repents and study what the scriptures say, and not what man says. As far as Yahshua not wearing tzit tzit, in Matthew 9:20, the woman with the issue of blood touched the "hem" or the kraspedon which in Hebrew would be the kanaph, the border which holds the tzit tzit of His garment. Mr. Boaz was again incorrect.

  2. Thanks BJay for your comment... I too pray that Boaz repents and follows the Word of YHWH.

Just one thing I would like to mention is that Boaz never taught that Yehoshua did not wear tzitzit, but rather taught that we do not have to wear tzitzit as the Messiah did.

Thanks for your comment and Shalom

  3. 2011 is a long time ago so that has given you while to study. After your first three examples of why we can use G-d's name I stopped reading. Boaz is correct. Yeshua (not yejoshua) would not have spoken G-d's name because it was only spoken by the High Priest (which He was not) and only on Yom Kippor. By telling people the Proper name of His Father it would have tempted them to use it in vain which is a sin. Hebrews 2 as well as John 17 examples were taken completely out of context. Neither time was the writer speaking about G-d's "name" but as a generalization. "I will tell of your name" does not mean "I will tell them the proper way to pronounce your name". Instead it means "I will tell of you". When I "make a name for myself" does that mean that I literally made a new name? No. It means by my actions people will know me. This is what is meant in Hebrews 2:12. John 17 was a prayer Yeshua was praying as He spoke to His Father. 17:6 "I have manifested your name to the people" means He has displayed or showed who G-d was through His (Yeshua's) actions. Seeing Yeshua is seeing G-d.

    1. Boaz Michael is a false preacher, as he disguises himself as a Hebrew roots preacher. He observes the Jewish calendar (NOT the calendar of Yahweh).

  4. Hi Jay

Sorry for not replying sooner. I have been really busy (and yes, been studying for many many years).

Your argument that the Name of the Almighty was only spoken by the High Priest is flawed. It has become a Rabbinic tradition that it was not spoken, but this tradition has no historic or Scriptural origin.

Also, your premise that Y’hoshua (that is how yud hey vav shin ayin is pronounced) was not a High Priest is a little flawed. According to the “New Testament” he is the High Priest (Go read the book of Hebrews).

So, as you can see, Boaz was wrong. Also, if you carried on reading the article, you would have seen many more errors that Boaz taught.

    2. Preceeding 359 CE, the Jews used to begin the moons by sighting the crescent. Then, after Hilel II came into being. They decided how many days make up a month by precalculation.
This method is inaccurate as the high Shabbaths might fall either one+ days before or after correct dates. The Jewish calendar is not the calendar of Yahweh.
